Film – TV Series Directing Certificate Program
In the Directing Training Certificate Program, faculty members from the Istanbul Aydın University Faculty of Communication and professionals from MEDYAPIM will provide practical directing training at the Florya Campus and on the ongoing TV series sets of Medyapım.
The training, which begins with basic camera knowledge, will offer intensive content and practical opportunities under topics such as lighting and illumination, editing principles, and actor direction, focusing on how today’s most-watched TV series are directed. All students enrolled in the program will be able to attend Medyapım TV series sets. The course flow and set visit schedule will be announced very soon.
- Objective: To train qualified professionals in the field of directing for the film and TV series industry.
- Scope: For 16 weeks (Tuesday – Thursday: 6 hours / Total 96 hours), practice-oriented training will be provided under the guidance of industry professionals and academics who are experts in their fields.
- General Requirements: The certificate program is open to all graduates of any undergraduate program. Classes will be conducted in groups of no more than 20 participants and will include visits to partner Cinema-TV companies.

Detailed Course Content:
Week 1: Examination of the basic operating principles of cinema cameras; practical application by examining the relationship between Aperture, Shutter, and ISO.
Week 2: Types of lenses, with practical application by examining the contribution of lenses to visual meaning.
Week 3: Film language: practical application by examining shot (plan), scene, sequence, long take, mise-en-scène, shot scales, and aspect ratios in a cinematographic context with the help of examples taken from important film scenes in cinema history.
Week 4: Practical examination of the 10 basic editing principles used in cinema and television, and analysis of the language of editing through sample films.
